IPU Community

The International Patients' Union was formed with a clear purpose — to unite patients on a single platform that connects them to doctors, policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, and fellow patients. The community is the living expression of that purpose.

Healthcare is at an inflection point. Doctors are organised. The pharmaceutical industry is organised. MedTech and IT are organised. But patients — the very people healthcare is supposed to serve — have historically had no unified voice. The IPU Community exists to change that.

What the IPU Community Stands For

At IPU, we firmly believe that patient voices can help facilitate a major shift towards patient-driven healthcare. The Voices Project captures the unheard stories of patients and caregivers who face the ordeal of the healthcare system — stories that expose failures, push accountability, and drive the system to change.

Patients are often forgotten in the healthcare discourse. Their experiences never reach the people who make decisions. The IPU Community gives those experiences a platform — and ensures they are heard at the highest levels.

What You Can Do as a Community Member

  • Voice your experience — share your patient story through the IPU app and contribute to the Voices Project
  • Participate in policy — IPU policy submissions to government bodies are shaped by the real experiences of community members
  • Attend conferences — the annual IPU Conference brings community members face to face with government officials, hospital leaders and digital health innovators
  • Access information — disease awareness resources including kNOw Parkinson's and kNOw Alzheimer's are available to all members
  • Join the movement — connect with fellow patients, caregivers and advocates working towards a patient-driven healthcare system

The Patients Union App

The IPU app is the gateway to the community. Through the app, patients can engage with the Patients' Council, access policy submissions, explore reports, and stay connected to the IPU's work in real time. Available on iOS and Android.
